Any thoughts on the amazing summer spent in the forest by Nick and his friends? This is the thread to discuss this great saga.

I had read this story on Canuck a while back. Nice having it in one piece. I want to go to Brazil on vacation! ;D Wasn't there more to it, though? Like with boy scouts and stuff? I hope you post the rest soon.

I'm glad you liked it, Jon.

Yes, there is more to it. In fact, I'm posting a new chapter on Monday, so don't forget to check by!

No comment here - you meanwhile know what I think about your story, don't you?

He is indeed. Nicholas H.'s work is great because of the epic feel of the story, the characterization, and yes, the wonderful way with which he describes action. It's not boring, it has lots of bonds and gags, and it overall rocks. Please harass him in this thread so he provides us with more of his story! ;D
(Pulling a Misery could work, but it'd have to be done carefully :D)

Yea, instead of dislocating my ankles with a hammer in order to get me to write more
chapters, a nice hogtie would do. ;)

Thanks for the comment. I'll try my best to continue asap.

Nicholas is back! Nice! I'll have to behave now. ;D

I have doubts on a hogtie being really convenient for writing, but being restrained to a chair, with one hand allowed enough freedom to type or write, and food being served only after writing 3,000 words could be more of an incentive. ;)

I've been told there are programs now that convert spoken words into a text file, so this wouldn't be a problem - we'd just have to do away with the gag.

(But what if we told him he would not be tied up until he's written 3000 words? ::) )

That reminds me of a story I read somewhere about a boy, whose mother - or father - continuously had him clean the pool or wash the dishes or some other chore if he wanted to get tied up. What a way to blackmail, huh?

I can't promise anything, but what about a next chapter in two weeks?

In two weeks ? That would be beyond awesome.

If it's as good as your other stories, we'll tie you up real good.

Woo hoo! A new chapter. Lots more intricacies than in the first draft. The brothers dynamics are nicely detailed.
Now we may start whining about the next chapter. ;D

Excellent work! I envy you for getting the chance to really get into some of these situations. I only had a few experiences with tugs when I was younger, but they were all really lame. Wish I could have these things happen now, but at 16 it's hard to find a group with similar interests. :P

Welcome, Roan. I'm sure Nick will appreciate your comments. It is indeed difficult to find people with similar interests, but do not despair, it might happen someday. Be sure to be safe in your encounters, though.

Most definitely. Safety is a number one issue for me, both with meeting and with the games themselves. I'm not much of a rough houser like some of the stuff in Nick's story, but it still sounds fun.

Wish there was some tried and true method to ask people at school. It's just a little odd going up to someone, even if they're a friend, and asking if they want to tie/be tied up. xD

Get to work on the next chapter, Nick! I have to know who wins this war! =)

It's all in how the idea is presented. Simply asking to be tied up, is apt to draw some funny stares, but inviting a friend over, then showing off with a pair of magician's handcuffs (available for about $30 at most magic stores), can lead to the adventure you seek.

But remember, there is a difference between a mechanical escape (the handcuffs, which are opened through the concealment of a four inch length of spring steel), and a physical escape (getting loose from being tied up using only your knowledge, skill, and strength). Make sure you keep that in mind.

The two experiences I've had both came to be because I'd found a roll of duct tape and was just playing around with it. xD Seems like most people will go along with it if you just randomly stick some tape over their mouths.

Do develop your own technique. The good old "Hey, have you ever seen what this guy Houdini did?" method can always work out.

Do harass Nick for more chapters. It might work, eventually...

I appreciate your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed reading my rather cliquish accounts.

Bondwriter is right on again - harassment is what keep us writers going! Soooo... there will be another chapter for you this weekend. ;)

Cheers,

Nicholas H.

PS. Good luck with your quest for a TuG; the escape challenge is the oldest trick in the book, but it almost never disappoints the TuGGer looking for a friendly TuG with his friends.

Awesome, some incentive to finish this stupid essay!

I've learned that a game of truth or dare can turn out pretty eventful as well. =D It's all about waiting for a time when everyone won't think you're a complete wierdo.

Thanks for the tips. Hopefully they'll be a party where something... interesting might happen soon. It'd be nice if I had some material to write a story about. Creative writing is so much more interesting than dissecting novels by dead white guys for symbolism and themes.
